Cell phones today provide portability and accessibility to people at unprecedented levels. People are becoming more connected, and the ability for consumers to have information at their fingertips when and where they need it is only limited by a organization's ability to provide it. The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) today is launching its own
effort to provide information at a our customers fingertips with a free iPhone Application called CDTA iRide.
CDTA iRide was designed to help provide our riders with a faster, more enjoyable public transit experience. The application was also designed with potential riders in mind to help them see the convenience and ease of riding CDTA.
CDTA iRide features include:
- A fully featured trip planner that allows riders to find available trips between origin and destinations. The trip planner will provide detailed walking and riding directions.
- On GPS enabled devices, riders can find the nearest starting bus stops based on their current location.
- Service Advisories keep you up to date on system-wide delays and notifications. Whenever CDTA posts an advisory to our website, the notification will be displayed on your phone.
- There are a variety of route maps - separated by region. On GPS enabled devices, a rider can also find his or her current location by using the “Locate Me” feature and your location will be pinpointed directly on the map.
- Riders have the ability to search for bus stops by name or browse all stops of a specific route. Stop information includes next scheduled arrival times and stop amenities.
- Riders also have access to a collection of important phone numbers, websites and contact information.
CDTA iRide plans your trip, calculates fares, finds nearby stops, and shows scheduled arrivals. We hope that CDTA iRide will become a valuable addition to your commute.
