Capital Region’s Largest Grocery Retailer Offering Employees Free Transportation
ALBANY, NY (December 3, 2024) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) has announced that Market 32/Price Chopper has joined its Universal Access Program and will provide unlimited ridership within CDTA’s service network at no cost to all regionally based teammates. The initiative underscores the mission of both organizations to strengthen the local workforce and enhance community connectivity.
“CDTA is excited to welcome Market 32/Price Chopper to its Universal Access Program,” said CDTA CEO Carm Basile. "Our comprehensive route network ensures a hassle-free commute for their workforce. CDTA understands how important it is for employees to get to their destination safely and efficiently, especially for employees at Market 32/Price Chopper, who provide the community with vital goods and services no matter the day or the weather. We're happy to take away the worry of a commute for employees and provide reliable and affordable transportation."
Market 32/Price Chopper is proud to offer this new benefit to nearly 5,000 teammates across the region, opening access to CDTA’s expansive transit network, which includes stops at, or near, several stores and the grocery retailer’s distribution center. Teammates can use any of CDTA’s transit services by swiping their Navigator smart card. CDTA’s Navigator app can also be downloaded from the Apple App or Google Play stores to access trip planning, schedules, and more to get the most out of the route network.
“Our teammates are at the heart of everything we do, and we are always looking to invest in resources that will help them reach their full potential,” said Market 32/Price Chopper President, Blaine Bringhurst. “Joining CDTA’s Universal Access Program is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for all their hard work and part of our ongoing promise to make their journey – to work, in their careers, and in life – as smooth and supportive as possible.”
Market 32/Price Chopper has been a longstanding CDTA partner, offering Navigator cards for sale at more than two dozen Capital Region locations. This expanded partnership ensures teammates convenient cost-free access to CDTA’s vital transit services while reinforcing the company’s support for CDTA’s award-winning regional infrastructure.
