Popular Seasonal Service Returns to Saratoga and Grafton Lakes State Park; New Summer Mobility Passport

ALBANY, NY (June 27, 2024) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced the return of its summer services that make it easy to travel to summer destinations throughout the Capital Region. These services include the return of the popular Saratoga Summer Visitors Trolley, service to Grafton Lakes State Park, the Summer Fun Pass and more.

The Summer Fun Pass offers Capital Region youth, 17 and under, unlimited rides on CDTA regular route buses from July 1 to August 31, 2024, for just $44. The pass offers a significant savings from the cost of a monthly Navigator pass. The Summer Fun Pass can be used to get to key destinations like Grafton Lakes State Park, local pools, parks, and summer employment opportunities throughout CDTA’s six-county service area. Customers can purchase the pass at the CDTA Sales Center located at 85 Watervliet Avenue in Albany and the Saratoga Springs Train Station at 26 Station Lane in Saratoga Springs. Customers can also go to www.cdta.org to purchase a Summer Fun Pass.

CDTA’s Saratoga Summer Trolley will return to service starting Thursday, July 11, and it will run through Labor Day. The popular trolley service is free of charge for customers, courtesy of NYRA Bets and the Saratoga Casino Hotel. The trolley operates Wednesday through Sunday each week during the racing season, from noon until 10:00 p.m. The trolley route offers convenient service to hotels and attractions along Broadway in downtown, and it operates to the front door of the Saratoga Race Course and the Saratoga Casino Hotel.

For more than 30 years, CDTA has provided summer service to Grafton Lakes State Park and will do so once again beginning Saturday, June 29. Route 96 allows customers to board buses at any CDTA bus stop along the route that begins in Downtown Troy, travels up Hoosick Street, and ends at Grafton Park. This year, service will operate seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through Labor Day. The complete schedule can be found at www.cdta.org.

CDTA and The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy collaborated on a Nature Bus service in Schenectady County in partnership with ECOS: The Environmental Clearing House of Schenectady. The Butterfly Line, scheduled to run for 10 Saturdays, will kick off on Saturday, July 6, and run through Saturday, September 7. Locations include the Village of Scotia’s Collins Park, the City of Schenectady’s Central Park, the Hudson-Mohawk Bird Club’s Reist Sanctuary and Kelly Adirondack Center, and the Albany Pine Bush’s Discovery Center.

CDTA is also introducing a Summer Mobility Passport this year, encouraging the community to get out and explore the Capital Region. Beginning on July 1, use one of CDTA’s mobility options to get to some of the region’s hottest summer attractions. Customers can snap a photo or shoot a video showcasing their mobility option and destination. Share the photo or video via social media using the hashtag #CDTASummerSnaps and tag @RideCDTA to show off your summer adventure. CDTA will select winners throughout the summer to receive special prize packages. Go to www.cdta.org/summer to learn more.
