New hub construction begins week of June 3 through end of July
ALBANY, NY (May 30, 2024) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) in partnership with the City of Troy, will begin construction on a new mobility hub in the Little Italy neighborhood at the corner of 4th and Liberty Street. Construction is expected to begin on the Liberty Square Mobility Hub on Monday, June 3, 2024.
Mobility Hubs integrate different modes of transportation and create a single location that gives customers choices with improved connections between bus routes, comfortable waiting areas and safe pedestrian access. Customers will be able to access CDTA transit routes, DRIVE (car share), and CDPHP Cycle! (bike share). The Liberty Square Mobility Hub has been designed to be part of the urban neighborhood and to complement surrounding developments.
Construction on the Liberty Square Mobility Hub is expected to last through the end of July. The community can anticipate minor traffic impacts during construction.
Construction Detours:
- Hill Street will be closed between Liberty and 4th Streets.
- Limited vehicle access and on-street parking will be available on Hill Street between Washington and Liberty Streets; there is no access to northbound Hill Street via Washington Street.
- Limited vehicle access and on-street parking will be available on Liberty Street between 5th Avenue and 4th Street; no access to westbound Liberty Street via 5th Avenue.
The existing bus stop on 4th Street and Liberty Street (routes #85, #224, #802) will be maintained during construction but will be moved to the new mobility hub when construction is complete.
Signs will be posted noting the road closure and limited access to some streets. Anyone needing more information about the Liberty Square Mobility Hub project should visit: https://projects.cdta.org/other-projects/liberty-square-mobility-hub
