Fare changes will go into effect April 1, 2025
ALBANY, NY (February 26, 2025) The Capital District Transportation Authority’s (CDTA) Board of Directors approved changing the fare structure in Warren County to align with CDTA’s existing Navigator fare structure, at its monthly board meeting today, Wednesday, February 26. The new structure will go into effect on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
When Greater Glens Falls Transit merged into CDTA in January 2024, it did not adjust fares. CDTA wanted to gain operating experience and get to know the community before making changes. CDTA held a public hearing in January 2025 in Glens Falls to receive feedback from customers and the community on the proposed fare changes.
“We’re excited to be upgrading the fare system in Warren County,” said CDTA Interim CEO Michael P. Collins. “We have enjoyed getting to know the community along with making new connections throughout our newest service area. Customers are going to experience more convenience, better security, and quicker boarding with Navigator.”
Over the next month, CDTA will be educating customers to help them get acclimated with community events, new retail locations and a variety of messaging on Navigator benefits. Customers can download the Navigator app at any time or will be able to pick up complimentary smartcards as the April 1 launch draws near. CDTA will keep the community updated via its website and social media channels for upcoming Navigator events ahead of the changes.
The cash fare structure is below:
Cash Base Fare $1.50 Half Base Fare $0.75
Paratransit $2.50 Summer Trolley $1.50
CDTA’s Navigator fare structure allows customers to load funds onto a smartcard or via a smartphone mobile application. Pay as You Go rides are $1.30 for the first three rides, fourth and up are free for the rest of the day. Half-fare rides are $0.65 for the first three rides, fourth and up are free for the rest of the day. Customers can purchase Navigator cards or download the mobile app for payments.
Frequent Rider monthly passes provide unlimited service for 31 consecutive days at a cost of $65. Half-fare cost for the Frequent Rider option will be $32.50. To learn more about Navigator, go to https://www.cdta.org/navigator.
