CDTA will hold Public Meetings to Present Changes and Answer Questions
ALBANY, NY (April 7, 2025) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will hold two public meetings to discuss proposed changes to CDTA’s FLEX On Demand service and Route #117. The first meeting will be held on Monday, April 21 at 5 p.m. at the Guilderland Public Library. Another public meeting will be held to discuss FLEX in Southern Saratoga County on Wednesday, April 23, at 5 p.m. at the Mechanicville Public Library. The public has the option to attend either meeting virtually as well.
The proposed changes to the Guilderland/Colonie FLEX service area include reducing the current size of the zone as shown in the pictures. This new Guilderland FLEX area will provide faster and more reliable connections to Crossgates Mall, where customers can then connect to fixed route for the rest of their trip. The town of Stillwater will be removed from the Southern Saratoga FLEX zone. FLEX will continue service in the Village of Stillwater.
To further speed up service, customers will also utilize a “point-to-point” pick-up and drop-off method. Pick-up and drop-off locations will be found mainly on main roadways. The “point-to-point” pick-up and drop-off method will also be applied to the Southern Saratoga FLEX zone.
To improve the fixed route connection due to the FLEX changes, CDTA will increase the frequency and span of Route #117. The route will also be extended from Albany International Airport to Route 7, allowing for connections to Route #370 and Latham Farms. Lastly, Route #117 will travel between Colonie Station and Crossgates via I-87 instead of Fuller Road and Western Avenue to further speed up connections.
These proposed changes would go into effect Sunday, May 25, 2025. Customers who want to comment on the proposed changes can email CDTA Senior Planner Ethan Warren at ethanw@cdta.org or call CDTA’s customer service at 518-482-8822. Customers have until April 25, 2025, to comment.
