2024 season included more e-bikes, locations and new technology
ALBANY, NY (January 29, 2025) It was announced at the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) Board of Directors, at their monthly Board Meeting on Wednesday, January 29, that season 8 of CDPHP Cycle! ended by breaking all previous ridership records since the program debuted in 2017. A total of 82, 898 rides were taken in in Season 8.
“We were excited to see a record-breaking season for CDPHP Cycle! as we continue to grow the program,” said Interim CDTA CEO Michael P. Collins. “It reinforces the need and want for this program and more mobility options in the Capital Region. We want to thank our riders, partners, and the community for their continued support in making CDPHP Cycle! a huge success. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in Spring 2025.”
This season, riders had access to more than 600 bikes, including more than 200 e-bikes. Ten new stations were added, and customers are using new app technology that makes renting bikes quicker and easier. More than 373,018 rides have been taken since CDPHP Cycle! hit the streets in 2017. The top three Capital Region cities that saw the highest ridership was the City of Albany, Saratoga Springs and the City of Troy. The top three Universal Access partners with the highest ridership was UAlbany, RPI and Skidmore College.
This season, the program saw 173,719 miles ridden, 11.75 million calories burned, 62,475 pounds of carbon reduced, and people saved more than $116, 390 on vehicle expenses.
