CDTA to Present River Corridor Bus Rapid Transit Proposal

June 17, 2014

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will hold a series of open house-style meetings to present its plans for a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line to be built along the corridor of Route 32 and Route 4 along the Hudson River. Community members are invited to provide input on how to best deliver this innovative service.

The proposed 15-mile BRT line will travel through the city of Albany including the Port of Albany, South End neighborhood, Downtown Albany, and the North Albany neighborhood. The corridor continues through the village of Menands and the City of Watervliet until crossing the Hudson River to Route 4 through the city of Troy. The corridor continues through downtown Troy, North Troy, and Lansingburgh neighborhoods where the BRT line would split with one leg leading to the city of Troy and the other to the village of Waterford.

BRT is one of the fastest-growing service categories in the country, and locally provides a transportation alternative that improves connections to jobs and stimulates the Capital Region’s economy.

The public will be able to view maps of the River Corridor and the full “40 miles of BRT” system map which show proposed stations and regional connections.

All meetings will be held from 6pm to 8pm at the following locations:
