Schenectady Operator Takes Top Honors in Annual Roadeo Competition

ALBANY, NY (June 11, 2014) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) awarded the top four finishers of the 29th annual CDTA Bus Operator Roadeo held today at Crossgates Mall. More than 20 operators from Albany, Schenectady and Troy divisions competed for the Championship title today. Operators were judged on a rigid, scored course, consisting of 9 different driving challenges.

First Place Finisher:          Robert Rzeszuto
                                              Schenectady Division
                                              28 years of service

Second Place Finisher:     Keith Strait
                                               Schenectady Division
                                               27 years of service

Third Place Finisher:         Bobby Venturiello
                                               Schenectady Division
     
                                          3 years of service 

Fourth Place Finisher:      Corey Bixby
                                               Schenectady Division
                                              8 years of service

Schenectady Operator Robert Rzeszuto scored “First Place” in the 2014 CDTA Bus Roadeo competition. Mr. Rzeszuto also placed 1st in the 2007 CDTA Roadeo, 2nd in both the 2001 and the 2011 CDTA Roadeo, and 3rd in the 2003 CDTA Roadeo.

Local law enforcement officials volunteered their time as judges by assessing contestant driving skills, knowledge of safety rules and time performance. The top three finishers will represent CDTA at the state-wide Roadeo held in the fall. Finalists in the NYS Roadeo have the opportunity to compete in the International Roadeo held annually in the spring.
