First 10 customers who purchase pass via mobile device to receive another pass FREE
(Albany, NY) – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is recognizing the newly elected world leader Pope Francis for his preferred mode of transportation – the bus – by hosting a “Ride like Pope Francis” contest. To encourage greater CDTA mobile site usage, the first 10 customers who purchase a Rolling Swiper from April 1 - April 8th via their PDA or Smartphone by logging onto http://www.cdta.org/mobile will receive a second free Rolling Swiper of the same value.
CDTA recently unveiled its new mobile website to provide customers with another tool to quickly access information and purchase passes. Customers now have the ability to purchase bus passes through their mobile devices. The number of mobile visits to CDTA’s website has more than doubled from last year with 58% connecting to the trip planner and route schedules being the most viewed pages. Mobile visits to CDTA’s Bustime application (for BusPlus real time information) have tripled over the last year. About 40% of these visits are through mobile devices with the Android platform as the most popular mobile device used by CDTA customers.
Argentina’s former Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, appointed on March 13th as the Catholic Church’s new Pope, regularly uses public transportation as his main way to connect with the people. Even after his first appearance as Pope, he chose to take a shuttle bus with other cardinals back to the Vatican residence instead of using the limousine offered to him.
