Superintendent of Fleet Maintenance Training & Operations

Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA), the Regions number one mobility provider, is looking to fill the Superintendent of Fleet Maintenance Training & Operations position.  Working at CDTA, you will be a part of a team that provides essential services to the Capital Region.  

The Superintendent of Fleet Maintenance is responsible for departmental oversight with a focus on providing clean, safe, reliable buses for daily service needs. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

•    Supervise the daily operations of the maintenance department for all four divisions. 
•    Supply an adequate number of buses required for daily service. Includes fixed route, STAR service and FLEX.
•    Manage and oversee the training and development of maintenance employees.  This includes onboarding, promotional training, apprenticeships, familiarization on new technology and vendor education (Boces/HVCC)
•    Maintain adequate staffing levels of all shifts in the Maintenance Department 
•    Maintain and track all scheduled work
•    Assist and oversee various fleet campaigns that may be assigned.
•    Perform Quality Assurance Inspections.
•    Monitor and track supervisor work benches in Spear.
•    Administer discipline that is consistent and compliant with CDTA policies 
•    Labor relations including dispute resolutions and grievances
•    Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Union contract
•    Collaborate with the CDTA Safety Department on all accident investigations and training initiatives
•    Interview and hire any necessary personnel.
•    Responsible for the creation and execution of department policies & procedures
•    Monitor the use of spending and budget control.

Qualifications:

•    A minimum of five years of experience working in a maintenance shop or educational facility (tech school, etc, vocational program) 
•    A strong background in Excel, Word and Outlook required.  
•    Experience with Maintenance software applications
•    Demonstrated ability to manage and provide guidance to employees at all levels
•    Examples of training that you have provided to enhance the skills of others  
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
•    Must be forward thinking, and able to multitask. 
•    Associate’s degree in related field is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
•    Minimum 5 years in a maintenance/supervisory/training role. 

Working Conditions:

•    Office/Garage Setting, minimal lifting, computer usage, long periods of sitting and standing.  Hours can be varied and may include some nights and weekends.

Salary Range:

Grade 618 ($81,023 - $99,658/salary)
