The 3-day trolley service will provide transportation to the theatre’s new location for shows starting Friday, August 6

ALBANY, NY – The Albany Parking Authority (APA) in partnership with the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and Capital Repertory Theatre will celebrate the return of unrestricted shows with free trolley service for three days' worth of shows beginning Friday, August 6th through Sunday, August 8th. Comedian Hasan Minhaj will be performing and is the theatre’s first public event at their new location at 251 N. Pearl St. following a $14 million renovation. The partnership and initiative was announced at a press conference today. For more show information please visit https://capitalrep.org/.

Audience members can take a CDTA trolley from the CDTA bus stop shelter location in front of the Quackenbush Garage at corner of Broadway and Orange Street to the theatre venue beginning one hour before the show. Trolley service will begin at 5:45 p.m. and run through midnight on Friday and Saturday, and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Parking will be $10 at the Quackenbush Garage, located at 25 Orange Street, Albany NY 12207, and the trolley will run approximately every ten minutes. All riders are required to wear masks on the trolley. For more information about parking please visit https://parkalbany.com/.

This is the first trial run of the reopening of the popular CDTA trolley system that ran from the Downtown Business Improvement District to the Lark Street area.  If demand and need is shown, this may signal the return of the popular program for a variety of community events.

“The Albany Parking Authority is excited to be part of this partnership that is working to bring back the vibrancy of Downtown Albany as we return to normalcy. Unrestricted shows at the Capital Repertory Theatre as well as the return of performances and shows at the Palace and Times Union Center is absolutely something to celebrate. The performing arts and live entertainment venues in Downtown Albany are second to none and are one of the things people missed the most throughout the pandemic,” said Matthew Peter, Executive Director of Albany Parking Authority.

“The Capital Repertory is excited to draw back the curtains and turn the spotlights back on as we welcome audiences to our new location. We thank the Albany Parking Authority and Capital District Transportation Authority for their partnership as we once again take the stage and breathe back life into the City of Albany. We look forward to kicking off a full theatre season and encourage the local community to experience the arts!” said Philip Morris, Chief Executive Officer, Capital Repertory Theatre.

“The Capital District Transportation Authority is proud to partner with the Albany Parking Authority and Capital Repertory Theatre as we celebrate the return of unrestricted shows.
