Critical Routes Adjusted and Increased to Meet Customer Demand

ALBANY, NY (April 20, 2020) - To continue meeting the critical need for safe and efficient connections throughout the Capital Region, CDTA will modify its service schedule on Sunday, April 26. The changes will increase frequency and hours of operation on bus routes that serve hospitals, medical facilities, grocery stores, pharmacies and other essential businesses. Service levels are being evaluated on a continuous basis and may be modified further as appropriate. STAR service for people with disabilities will continue to operate on a normal weekday schedule.

Some of the highlighted changes are to Route 1, Route 22, Route 100, Route 286, Route 905 and to the Northway Express. In most instances, the changes will result in more service so that routes are on weekday schedules. This will increase frequency to meet ridership needs and to assist with social distancing on buses. For updated service information and schedules visit www.cdta.org.

On Friday, April 17 at 8pm, an Executive Order signed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo mandates that any individual aged 2 or older who can medically tolerate wearing a face covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or close face-covering when in public and unable to maintain, or when not maintaining social distance. We strongly encourage all CDTA customers to comply with this Executive Order while riding on our buses.

CDTA has implemented a Social Distancing Policy on all vehicles. This means keeping 6ft from other customers and the bus operator when possible. Priority seating areas will remain in the upright position and are not to be used unless needed. The service changes highlighted above will increase capacity on CDTA buses and make distancing easier to practice.

Governor Cuomo has ordered that only essential trips be made on public transportation systems like CDTA. Service will continue to get health care workers and other essential employees to work and where they need to go. However, the Governor’s message is very clear, do not use public transportation service like CDTA unless urgent and necessary.

Updated service schedules can be found on our website at www.cdta.org. Questions and inquiries should be directed to the CDTA customer service center at 518-482-8822. Customers can also stay up to date with CDTA activities through social media sites, Facebook (@ridecdta) and Twitter (@ridecdta)

The CDTA Sales Window at 85 Watervliet Avenue in Albany is closed until further notice. The lobby at CDTA’s Administrative Headquarters at 110 Watervliet Avenue in Albany is open from 9am-3pm.

CDTA is following guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control on how to keep employees and customers safe.

In addition to service changes, CDTA has modified bus and facility cleaning processes. We are using a deep cleaning liquid that contains a hospital-grade sanitizing agent. Bus operators have access to face masks, disposable gloves and sanitizing wipes to do additional wipe downs of their work areas. We also have cleaners in the field doing wipe-downs of buses at layover areas, multiple times throughout the day. If anyone has concerns or observes any vehicle that needs attention, please report that immediately to CDTA.
