CDTA’S COMPLIMENTARY SHUTTLE SERVICE RETURNS FOR 67TH ANNUAL ALBANY TULIP FESTIVAL
Mother’s Day Weekend Tradition Continues at Washington Park May 9-10
ALBANY, N.Y. (May 5, 2015) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced today it will provide complimentary shuttle service as part of the 67th annual Albany Tulip Festival, which will be held on Saturday May 9th & Sunday May 10th at Washington Park.
“CDTA is pleased to once again provide this free service for such a great community event,” said CDTA Board Chairman David M. Stackrow. “The great weather forecast combined with limited parking availability should encourage folks to use one of the designated parking lots and leave the driving to us.”
CDTA will provide complimentary shuttle runs to Washington Park from 11:00 a.m.to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from three designated locations. The pick-up and drop off locations are: Elk Street at Hawk Street at the stop sign, OGS Parking Garage on Madison Avenue at Eagle Street and the third location, Robin Street at Morris Street can accommodate those customers requiring extra assistance or in wheelchairs. The three shuttles will run every 20-25 minutes depending on traffic.
Stackrow said, “We move hundreds of people every year to and from this two-day event. It’s a great way for people to give CDTA a try if they have never had the opportunity to ride with us and see why we are experiencing record ridership for the second year in a row.”
The Tulip Festival is Albany’s signature spring event, featuring fun, food and family. The centerpiece of this event, more than 100,000 tulips in 150 different varieties. It all takes place in Washington Park, the historic, 81-acre “crown jewel” of the City. This event is free and open to the public. CDTA Travel Trainers will also be on hand with giveaways and to answer questions about services.
