ALBANY, N.Y. (November 7, 2014) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will be offering complimentary rides to Veterans and Active Duty Military personnel on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2014.
“This is just a small way we can say thank you to our military servicemen and women,” said CDTA Chairman David M. Stackrow. “We proudly employ a number of veterans and are committed to supporting the military personnel living in our community for their honorable service to our country.”
Any Veteran or Active Military personnel who show their military identification card may ride for free on Veterans Day. This includes all fixed-route and Para-transit or STAR service. CDTA service will operate on its regular service schedule. In addition all veterans who receive disability benefits are eligible to ride CDTA buses for half fare by showing their Medicare card or half fare ID card any day of the year.
CDTA is hosting its 3rd annual Veterans Day luncheon on Monday, November 10th to honor current and retired military employees at a local VFW Post to thank them for their service. In September CDTA provided complimentary transportation for area veterans to and from the “Spirit of America” shows at the Times Union Center.
CDTA Board of Directors Secretary, Rensselaer County Representative Joseph Spairana Jr. has been a staunch supporter of veterans programs and is working with the CDTA Board to find ways to enhance veteran services.
