CDTA ANNOUNCES 2014 BUS MAINTENANCE ROADEO TOP WINNERS

ALBANY, NY - The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announces the winners of the 2014 CDTA Bus Maintenance Roadeo. The competition was held Friday at the CDTA Albany Division Technician Training facility with nine technicians competing for bragging rights.

  • 1st Place- Phil Jordan, works in the Albany Division with 16 years of service
  • 2nd  Place- Ken Stager, Jr., works in the Albany Division with 3 years of service
  • 3rd Place- Edwin Frank, works in the Albany Division with 1 year of service

CDTA maintenance technicians competed in a series of timed events featuring a written test, bus inspection, and several trouble shooting exercises with pre-set defects in the areas of HVAC repair, engine repair, air brake diagnostics, and multiplex equipment. A panel of judges, comprised of CDTA staff, oversaw and completed the contestants’ final scores.

The CDTA Bus Maintenance Roadeo is designed to encourage excellence and professionalism in bus transit operations and test the skills they have acquired through internal training programs.

The top three winners will now go on to compete in the national APTA (American Public Transportation Association) competition being held in Texas next Spring.
