Mother’s Day Weekend Tradition Continues at Washington Park May 10-11
ALBANY, N.Y. (April 8, 2014) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced today that it is a proud co-presenter of the 66th annual Albany Tulip Festival, which will be held on Saturday, May 10th & Sunday, May 11th at Washington Park.
“CDTA is pleased to play a larger role in the Albany Tulip Festival, a great family-friendly event with wide-reaching appeal.” said CDTA Board Chairman David M. Stackrow. “We have provided service for a number of years, but this year we wanted to take our support to the next level.”
In addition to co-presenting the event with Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Albany.com, CDTA will provide complimentary shuttle runs to Washington Park from Eagle Street Garage (at Eagle & Madison Ave) & Elk Street Parking Lot (at Elk & Hawk Streets) from 12:00pm-6:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. Handicap parking is available at the UAlbany Thurlow Parking Lot at Western & Thurlow. Attendees also have the added green option of biking to the event with bike racks near Willett Street & Madison Avenue.
CDTA is committed to reducing the city’s carbon footprint not only by offering this free shuttle service and bicycle options for festival attendees but promoting a “greener” way to travel in the Capital Region every day. Visit www.cdta.org for more information.
The Tulip Festival is Albany’s signature spring event, featuring annual traditions rooted in the city’s rich Dutch heritage. The event features nearly one hundred artisans selling their handmade crafts, a fine arts show, delicious food, the KidZone family fun destination, and two stages of world-class live entertainment. But the centerpiece of this event, of course, the more than 100,000 tulips in 150 different varieties! It all takes place in Washington Park, the historic, 81-acre “crown jewel” of the City. As always, this event is free and open to the public.
