GOVERNOR'S BUDGET TO INCREASE STATE OPERATING FUNDS FOR 2014

January 22, 2014

CDTA Allotment Will Be Used To Address Operational Needs

(Albany, N.Y.) – Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Executive budget request for 2014-2015 proposes a 1.35 percent increase in state operating assistance for the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA). The budget proposal, which was unveiled yesterday, would provide an additional $420,000 that brings CDTA’s 2014 STOA funding package to $31.6 million.

CDTA would use the funds as part of its operating plan, which includes providing service to respond to increased demand from customers.  “We appreciate Governor Cuomo’s continued support of public transit and will make good use of the additional funds,” said CDTA Chairman David M. Stackrow.

CDTA is on track to serve more than 16 million riders this fiscal year, its highest boarding count in 30 years. Ridership gains and network improvements are driven by an innovative transit system that provides a better way to travel throughout the Capital Region.
