ACPHS Students Able to Ride CDTA Services with Swipe of ID Card
(Albany, NY) - The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) announced a new partnership that will provide students with unlimited access to the CDTA route network for the spring 2013 semester. The agreement will allow ACPHS students to use their student IDs to access all CDTA regular routes including STAR and the Northway Xpress commuter service.
“This agreement further validates the innovative approach that Capital Region colleges and universities are employing to address their needs,” said CDTA CEO Carm Basile. “ACPHS students will now have better mobility for traveling to and from the campus, plus another option for accessing critical internships and learning opportunities at area hospitals and pharmacies as well as additional use in their everyday personal lives.”
“Through this arrangement with CDTA and the support of the College’s Student Government Assocation, ACPHS students now have a ‘no-cost’ option for traveling to a variety of off-campus social and academic activities,” said Michael Sass, who currently heads the Office of Campus Life at the College. “As importantly, CDTA provides our students with a safe, reliable form of transportation as they explore all that the Capital District has to offer.”
The arrangement represents another partner for CDTA’s growing universal access program that offers discounted wholesale contracts based on a bulk number of rides.
Route #13 (New Scotland Avenue), Route #100 (Mid-City Belt) and Commuter Route #734 (Hackett/Buckingham Pond) all service the College of Pharmacy campus, providing service seven days a week with easy access to downtown Albany and nearby medical facilities.
CDTA has universal access partnerships with the University of Albany, RPI, The College of Saint Rose, Russell Sage Colleges, Skidmore College, Schenectady County Community College, Hudson Valley Community College, Branford Hall Career Institute and Siena College. Universal access arrangements constitute close to 20% of CDTA’s ridership with nearly 2.5 million annual boardings.
