CDTA Announces Public Hearing on Rail Station Parking Rates

(Albany, NY) –The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is proposing that the Rensselaer Rail Station parking fares be restructured to be in line with area facilities including Albany Airport and Empire State Plaza. Parking revenue will go toward the repair and maintenance of the station, garage and the parking lots.  

Proposed Rensselaer Rail Station Parking Rate Structure: 

$12 garage
$8 lot A
$7 lot B
Parking in lots A & B will cost $2 for the first hour
Free 2 hour parking on Rail Station Platform will remain the same
Weekly Rates: Garage - $50, Lot A - $35 & Lot B - $30  

Proposed “Special Event” Pricing For Saratoga Springs Train Station:  A pilot program was instituted for special event parking in fall 2012. The pilot program charged $5 per vehicle to park at the station during special events and the pricing will become permanent for special events on April 1, 2013. 

To provide customers with information and an opportunity to comment, CDTA will hold a public hearing at the below date and location. If approved by the board after commentary is received, fare changes will begin in April 2013. The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29, 2013, from 6-8pm at the Albany Public Library Main branch, 161 Washington Avenue, Albany NY 12210.

The hearing will open at 6:00pm. CDTA staff will provide a presentation on the Fare Increase Proposal and organize a call for registered speakers. The public are also encouraged to email their comments to CDTA at cdta@cdta.org or mail to:
