CDTA Announces Thanksgiving Holiday Service

Service will Operate on a Sunday/Holiday Schedule for Thanksgiving

ALBANY, NY (November 20, 2024) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2024. There will be no Northway Xpress (NX) or Thruway Xpress (TX) commuter services. Regular weekday service will resume on Friday, November 29, 2024. 

The CDTA Sales window will also be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2024, and Friday, November 29, 2024, and will reopen on Monday, December 2, 2024.

CDTA owns and operates the Joseph L. Bruno Rail station and is encouraging people traveling for the holidays to plan. The parking area at the rail station is expected to be at or near capacity leading up to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Customers are encouraged to give themselves time to find a parking spot. 

Customers can also utilize CDTA’s FLEX+ service which offers a convenient, on-demand connection between the Joseph L. Bruno Rail Station and key downtown Albany destinations including the New York State Capitol, Albany Capital Center, Empire State Plaza, and other popular locations. In 2023, Amtrak carried more than a million customers on its trains around the country during the Thanksgiving travel period for a 16% increase from 2022. Customers looking for more information about holiday service can call CDTA’s Customer Service Center at (518) 482-8822. Customer Service Representatives are on duty 6:00am-7:00pm weekdays, 8:00am-6:00pm Saturdays and 8:00am-5:00pm on Sundays/Holidays.
