Expanded SUNY Polytechnic Partnership Highlights Popularity

ALBANY, NY (November 4, 2015) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced at its monthly Board of Directors meeting that it has expanded its Universal Access Program with SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The partnership is now open to students, faculty and staff at the Fuller Road Campus with no out of pocket costs.

Universal Access partnerships address increasing demand for services, providing budget predictability and better mobility for residents at the Capital Region’s leading colleges and businesses. The program offer enhanced access to CDTA’s regular route network of over 50 routes with connections throughout the region, travel on the STAR paratransit and Northway Xpress Commuter services.

Qualifying customers need only present a valid ID upon boarding to access the full complement of CDTA’s route network. The universal access model promotes riders to adopt a sustainable lifestyle by incorporating transit into their daily living beyond the commute to school or work.

In Other News:

  • System ridership totaled 1.53 million boardings, which was down about 1% from September 2014 (1.56 million). STAR boardings were up about 6% in September. This reflects a slight slowing of boarding counts compared to last year’s record. Despite the slight dip, CDTA expects the annual boarding count to be near 17 million.
  • CDTA’s United Way campaign wrapped up with record numbers. Employees contributed nearly $51,000 this year, which is up 64% from last year’s total. In fact, CDTA’s 650 employees have increased support by 155% from just two years ago when the giving totaled nearly $20,000. CDTA has built a robust program of volunteering and giving to benefit many worthwhile Capital Region organizations.

The CDTA Board of Directors meets on the last Wednesday of every month at the CDTA Headquarters. Board meetings are open to the public and streamed live at www.cdta.org
