CDTA Kicks Off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Iconic Pink Buses

October 01, 2026

CDTA celebrates 11th year supporting the American Cancer Society and 10th anniversary of the Pink Bus Pull

ALBANY, NY (October 1, 2026) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and the American Cancer Society are excited to kick off the Men Wear Pink Campaign and unveil the two CDTA pink buses.

The Capital Region community will once again see the iconic pink CDTA 40-foot bus and the Real Kids Wear Pink STAR bus on the streets throughout October. The buses serve as highly visible reminders of the importance of breast cancer awareness, early detection, and supporting those impacted by the disease.

“We’re proud to once again turn our buses pink and use our system to bring attention to an important cause that touches so many people in our community,” said CDTA CEO Frank Annicaro. “This year we are celebrating 11 years of supporting the American Cancer Society and a special milestone, the 10th annual Pink Bus Pull. I’m grateful to our employees, community partners, and everyone who continues to get behind this campaign and help make a difference.”

Broadview Federal Credit Union is once again supporting the Real Kids Wear Pink STAR bus with its logo displayed on the bus.  All the materials to transform the buses were generously donated by Lamar Advertising and Seifert Transit Graphics. Thank you to the CDTA maintenance team who helps get the pink buses looking their best year after year.

Last year, CDTA raised nearly $20,000 for the campaign. So far this year, CDTA has raised more than $6,000. Over the last ten years, CDTA has raised nearly $175,000 for the American Cancer Society.
