CDTA Announces Changes to FLEX and FLEX+ Services

Operating hours and pick up locations changing to align service with demand

ALBANY, NY (June 20, 2024) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will make several changes to its FLEX and FLEX+ On Demand services. FLEX is CDTA’s popular curb-to-curb service that operates in specific areas where customers request an on-demand ride. 

Beginning Monday, June 24, 2024, FLEX+ will operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Additionally, beginning Monday, July 1, 2024, the FLEX+ summer schedule will provide a convenient way for customers to get around downtown Albany. The Summer schedule will pick up and drop off at  677 Prime, Albany Pump Station, Hill Street Café, The City Beer Hall , Dutch Apple Cruises & Tours, The Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Jennings Landing, Hattie’s Restaurant, Hampton Inn & Suites Albany-Downtown, Hyatt Place Albany, Leo O’Brien Federal Building, Palace Theatre, Empire State Plaza, Alfred E. Smith Building, Albany Capital Center, New York State Capitol, Hilton Hotel (State Street), Renaissance Albany Hotel, Albany City Hall, New York State Museum, Joseph L. Bruno Rail Station, SUNY Administration Building, Kiernan Plaza and MVP Arena.

Customers looking to book FLEX+ on-demand rides should download The Routing Company’s “Ride Pingo” app from the Apple or Google Play Stores. After creating an account, customers can pre-book and pay for their scheduled ride. Customers can also pay using the Ride Pingo app, CDTA’s Navigator app, or cash. The service will cost $3.00 per ride. 

CDTA will also be making changes to the FLEX Colonie service area. Beginning on Monday, July 1, 2024, FLEX will no longer serve Collins Circle (SUNY) and Patroon Creek Boulevard. Additionally, beginning July 1, there will be only one pick-up and drop-off location at shopping centers. FLEX will pick-up and drop-off outside the food court entrance at Crossgates Mall, in front of Regal Cinema at Colonie Center, the CDTA stop at Hamilton Square Mall (20 Mall) in Guilderland, the Target entrance at Northway Mall, the post office at Stuyvesant Plaza, and the Purple line BRT station at Crossgate Commons.

Customer service representatives are on duty 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. weekdays and 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturday and from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and holidays.
