CDTA Offers Free Rides to the Polls on Election Day

November 01, 2024

Capital Region voters can also utilize CDPHP Cycle! to get to the polls

ALBANY, NY (November 1, 2024) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will offer free rides to polling locations on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5. Customers can utilize any of CDTA’s regular routes or Bus Rapid Transit Services and tell the operator they are going to vote.

STAR customers can also get free transportation to and from polling locations. STAR service to these sites must be within ¾ mile of CDTA fixed-route service. Reservations for free trip requests must be made to STAR at (518) 482-2022 no later than Monday, November 4, 2024, by 4:00 p.m. Customers are encouraged to find their polling place and check their voter status prior to making their reservation through the appropriate County Board of Elections.

STAR is CDTA’s paratransit service, offering transportation alternatives to customers who cannot use, or have substantial difficulty using, the CDTA fixed-route bus system because of a disability or impairment. Prior to using STAR service, an individual must complete the certification process and receive approval as a STAR customer.

Customers can also utilize CDTA’s CDPHP Cycle! pedal and electric bicycles. People can download the CDPHP Cycle! app, create an account and add their credit card information. Click on the three-line icon in the top left corner and click “Coupons & Credits.” Customers can then enter the code “BIKETOVOTE” for a free 30 minutes. Current Cycle! customers who have a plan can also use the code to get the free 30 minutes.
