Beech-Nut becomes first partner along Route 5S to offer employees transportation option
ALBANY, NY (September 25, 2023) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) has announced Beech-Nut has joined its Universal Access Program.
“CDTA is excited to extend Route 601 in Amsterdam to service Beech-Nut and its employees,” said CDTA CEO Carm Basile. “A lot of employees have struggled to get transportation out to Route 5S in Amsterdam, and we’re happy to be able to provide a mobility solution for them. We look forward to the partnership that will benefit Beech-Nut and its employees, who will no longer have to worry about transportation issues or cost and can focus on doing their job.”
Beech-Nut provides families with access to delicious and quality-tested baby and toddler foods. Employees at Beech-Nut’s facility in Amsterdam will have unlimited ridership within CDTA’s service network. Employees can use any of CDTA’s transit services by swiping their CDTA Navigator card. Customers can download CDTA’s Navigator app in the Apple or Google Play stores. The app provides trip planning, so employees can use the CDTA route network to get to other parts of the Capital Region as well.
"We are so excited to partner with CDTA on this bus line extension—many years in the making. Affordable, reliable public transportation is crucial for the success of Amsterdam, our business, and our own employees,” said Beech-Nut Vice President of Human Resources Erin Clemens.
"At Beech-Nut, we are continuing to grow our workforce by sourcing local, untapped talent,” said Brittany Duncan, talent acquisition specialist. “We hope this new route makes accessing our facility easier for employees."
Currently, nearly 40 Capital Region colleges and businesses are part of CDTA’s Universal Access program. Through the program, schools and businesses can provide convenient measures to reduce travel expenses, stressful commutes, and parking costs. These solutions further enhance the academic experience and work environment for those participating.
