Lead Technician (Minimum $90,000/year)

We seek a dynamic and skilled Vehicle Repair Technician to join our team! In this role, you will diagnose malfunctions and perform vital repairs on various vehicle systems, including steering, electrical, HVAC, braking systems, drivetrains, suspensions, diesel engines, and transmission components. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring our fleet operates smoothly and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose issues in diesel engines and automatic transmissions
  • Maintain and repair electric vehicles (EVs) while utilizing High-Voltage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure safety. 
  • Must own a basic mechanic’s tool set. CDTA will supply diagnostic and specialized tools necessary for daily operations and provide a generous tool allowance.
  • The Lead Technician is crucial for ensuring the reliability of our fleet and completing repairs efficiently. You are expected to achieve ASE Master Technician Transit Bus certification within 12 months of employment and to maintain this certification throughout your tenure. The position offers a consistent day shift from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, promoting a healthy work-life balance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent

  • Five years of fleet experience in a Diesel Shop with Heavy/Medium duty fleets preferred or at least five years of Auto/Truck mechanical repair experience. Credit for vocational and apprenticeship will be accepted. 

  • Vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (Preferred)

  • Before starting employment, the selected candidate must pass a technical aptitude and hands-on test to demonstrate their diagnostic and repair skills on heavy-duty buses or trucks

  • Three years of driving with a Class D (standard) driver’s license, clean and valid NYS driver’s license (no excessive speed violations, DWIs, DUIs, or DWAIs)

  • Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required (or expected within three months of hire)

Compensation
Minimum $90,000 per year
